1. What are the admission requirements for undergraduate programmes at universities, junior colleges and postsecondary course in specialised training colleges?
STPM, UEC, A-Levels, Matriculation, University Foundation, Pre-U Study, Diploma qualifications.
Those who are at least 18 years old
Received 12 years of school education and have completed secondary education.
Complete a “course of preliminary study for university entrance” at authorised institutions for students from countries where secondary education less that 12 years
Proficiency in Japanese
2. What are the admission requirements for master's course at universities?
Those who graduated from a four-year university
Those who have completed 15 years or 16 years of school education
On passing admission qualification examinations for individual graduate school and those who are at least 22 years old
Proficiency in Japanese / English (for certain courses only)
3. What are the admission requirements for doctor's course at universities?
Those who have a master’s degree or those who have been conferred degrees that are equal to master’s degrees.
On passing admission qualification examinations for individual graduate school and those who are at least 24 years old.

4. Where do I send my application?
Applications are made directly to the higher education institutions in japan
5. When do the semesters begin?
Most courses begin in April
Some begin in September / October
6. What are the average cost studying (tuition & living expenses) in Japan?
JPYen 117.000 ~ JPYen 158,000 per month (RM 3,9780.00 ~ RM 5,372.00)
Including tuition fees, accommodation, food, transportation, health insurance, clothing, etc.
7. Can I work part-time in Japan?
Yes. Upon receiving permission from the school attended and from the nearest regional immigration bureau
Students in universities, colleges of technology or postsecondary course in specialised training colleges:
28 hours per week during school term and up to 8 hours per day during vacation term
Research students who audit classes or are auditors:
14 hours per week during school term and up to 8 hours per day during vacation term,
Students in Japanese language institutions (status of residence as per-college student shugaku-sei):
Within 4 hours per day
8. Are courses offered by Japanese higher education institutions recognised by JPA (Public Service Department)?
JPA recognises 244 qualifications offered by Japanese higher education institutions.
JPA recognition is only important if you are intending to work in the public sector in future or if you are intending to further studies in the public universities in Malaysia in future.
9. What type of courses are available in higher education institutions in Japan?
There are about 3,000 majors of study for you to choose for from Japanese universities. Different students have different aptitudes and skill. Different programmes have different learning objectives and cater to different learning needs.
The basic things to consider when selecting a higher education institution in Japan are :
clarify your academic ability, objectives, financial situation and the major fields; your desired profession or direction in the future and the characteristics and features of the schools and department.
10. Can I get a job in Japan after completing my studies in Japan?
International students are allowed to change their status of residence for taking an employment in Japan. The following are the main points taken into account by the Immigration Bureau in Japan for issuance of employment visa for working in Japan:
(a) Educational background
(b) The type of jobs in which the applicant wants to be employed
(c) Remuneration
